grand roofing and siding

In 2021, Huber and Associates was awarded the opportunity to roof the Grand Bohemian Hotel. This new hotel sits adjacent to the Reedy River and Falls that flows through downtown Greenville, SC. While in a beautiful location, the jobsite was very snug and congested during construction. Prior to our arrival, mass climbers, scaffolding, and special scaffolding at the highest peaks were installed to help us complete our scope of work, which also included the hand-stained cedar siding shingles.

Our roofing scope alone was about 55,600 sq. ft. with average pitches of 8/12 and 10/12.  After many roof mockups, eventually the carefully selected blend of Charcoal Gray, Sage Green, and Plum Dark Purple Enviroslate® was approved by the architects. These shingles are created using a superior composite blend creating a durability to outlast most natural shingles, up to 100 years or more. The hotel chain’s reputation for “grand” details did not exclude the roof – while Enviroslate is fairly malleable, sections required it to be specially steam-bent before installation to fit the curve of the dormer.

The siding was composed of 24” cedar shingles, which were all stained in a blend of greens and browns. This scope of work was very tedious and multiple areas, such as the archways, required extra attention to detail and planning.

completion & recognition

We finally finished the project in Spring of 2022! A big thank you to David Piper, our project manager, for overseeing this project, as well as many other team members and subcontractors who shared the goal of seeing this project through to completion. This year, we were honored to have received a 3rd Place Award for the roofing portion from the Florida Roofing Association (FRSA)!
